Raid at the Good Nite Inn
In about August 1993 Investigators for the District Attorney office tried again to get me. These two guys Glen Kitzman (a nice guy but he is too naive about the problems he causes) and Danny Miller (a genuinely nice guy) raided my office at the Good Nite Inn. These are the same guys who worked for the district attorney in 1991 and 1992 on my LSD case. At one point they came to my office across from the court house in autumn 1991 armed with a search warrant and guns. I was prepared for them. They had a warrant for two photos that had been shown on Inside Edition the night before. I had made a set of photos for them. It was very cordial. In fact, when Danny Miller came in, he recognized the music that I was playing. Danny asked "Is that Shadowfax?" He was right. "Angel's Flight" or something was the name of the music that I was playing.
So now it is late 1993. I am doing bankruptcies. The district attorney has set up a sting. They pretended on the phone to be bankruptcy folks. I was in the middle of a bankruptcy. There was a knock at the door. I told my clients "This must be my 2 pm appointment" When I answered the door I recognized Danny Miller and Glen Kitzmann. I remember that I went back to my computer after letting them in. "Step back and take your hands away from the computer" said the police. It was kinda funny to me. The raid was unjustified. Okay, they why not file a motion to suppress evidence ala Penal Code 1583.5? The answer is that they did not accuse me of a crime - so there was no evidence for them to suppress. One day I was walking down the hall near the district attorney office and I recognized some folks from the state bar prosecutor office. I then realized that the Ventura D.A. was using silver platter theory. They could not use the evidence, so they passed it on to the state bar. The state bar would use it without challenge since, as we see in retrospect, I was not at the hearing. They got by default at a distant court what they could not get promptly at a court in my home town. The Magna Charta protects me against being haled to a distant court.
Perfidy and Greed! My late friend, the King of Torts, warned me. Famous San Francisco Attorney Melvin Belli was a friend of mine. I had the pleasure of chatting with him early in my career. In a Christmas card in about 1989 Melvin warned me of the "perfidy and greed" of humans. Incidentally the bar went after Melvin Belli also. They attacked him because he went on television to speak up for his favorite brand of wine.

There are many more briefs that I wrote around that time. I was fighting the corrupt bureaucracies on many fronts. The district attorney continued to lie and say that my LSD conviction was a felony; it was a misdemeanor. The bar lied and said that bankruptcy practice required state bar permission. Wrong. It is federal. That disbarred me for that - but they did not tell me until it was over. I was not invited to the hearing. This is already up on this website at page 5453 - my disbarment page.
